Nostalgia is a bad argument but a good question

"It used to be better" is almost always false. What sits behind it is a real observation.

It used to be clearer what was wanted from you. A game fit in your head whole: the rules, the goal, the edge of the possible.

Today the systems are more complex and their explanation is smeared across twenty hours of tutorial. Longing for the past is often longing for clarity, not for pixels. That part deserves to be taken seriously.
