Star Wars Zero Company: XCOM by the people who made XCOM

Bit Reactor's turn-based tactics arrive 27 August. No microtransactions, stated outright.

Star Wars Zero Company reaches PC, PS5 and Xbox Series on 27 August — turn-based tactics from Bit Reactor, a studio founded by people from the XCOM team.

The lineage shows immediately: permadeath, scouting before a fight, a squad you get attached to. What is its own: a bond system between characters, and customisation that lives inside the game. Bit Reactor has confirmed separately that there will be no microtransactions.

Across previews from five outlets with 10 to 18 hours played, the complaint is consistent — mission variety. For a genre whose campaign rests on repeating one mechanic, that is exactly where these games usually break.
