MGS4 leaves the PlayStation 3 after eighteen years
Master Collection Vol. 2 lands 27 August, with Peace Walker and Ghost Babel alongside.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 arrives on 27 August for PS5, Xbox Series, Steam, Switch and Switch 2. The collection was announced back in February at a State of Play.
Its centrepiece is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Since 2008 the game has existed nowhere but the PlayStation 3. Eighteen years tied to a single console is a record for a series this size. It ships with Peace Walker in its HD Collection form and Ghost Babel from the Game Boy Color as a bonus.
The reason for the delay was technical: MGS4 was written for the Cell, a processor whose architecture nobody repeated. Moving anything off it was never a port so much as an excavation.
