On 9 July EA Sports College Football 27 launched on consoles and, for the first time in the series, on mobile.

The franchise's history is notable on its own: it was halted in 2013 over lawsuits about the likeness rights of student athletes, and returned only after NCAA rules changed to let players earn from their own names.

The mobile release follows from that same decision. Once using real athletes became legally possible, platforms stopped being a technology question and became a licensing one.
